MOOSE – MUZZLELOADER RECORD
1. Don Holland 200-4/8 1994
Three of us split up to walk through several miles of land between two lakes of the Aulneau interior. Within the first hour I saw a large set of antlers in a willow thicket. He was about seventy yards from me and feeding. This was a fairly open bedrock area with small pockets of willow. As soon as he stepped forward to expose the front shoulders I fired a 385 grain buffalo bullet into his front. He did nothing – really – I reloaded (which takes almost a minute) and shot again into the heart lung area. This time I got his attention, he moved out while I again reloaded. Within five minutes I fired the third shot just over a ridge and he dropped. All three shots hit their mark but a fourth was required to end it all.
