NON-TYPICAL DEER RECORDS
The Size and the Points
Non-typical whitetails are about as unique as snowflakes are and come in just about as many patterns. Whether it’s a couple drop-tines or a whole mess of points jutting out in many directions, non-typical whitetails are some of the most coveted game animals in North America and Ontario continues to produce many incredible examples.
If the antlers of a buck are not “typical”, then they must be “non-typical”. There is no firm definition of when a buck becomes a non-typical instead of just a typical with abnormal points but minimum sizes are in place and if a buck qualifies for the Big Game Records of Ontario in both categories, it is up to the owner to decide.
Non-typical whitetails are much less common than are typical whitetails and the number of non-typical entries versus typical entries in the Big Game Records of Ontario confirms this point.
