It hardly seems right to refer to an animal as magnificent and wondrous as a whitetail buck as… well, typical. Though we attempt to classify them with terms like 5×5 or 8-point, the truth is each rack is different.
It hardly seems right to refer to an animal as magnificent and wondrous as a whitetail buck as… well, typical. Though we attempt to classify them with terms like 5×5 or 8-point, the truth is each rack is different.
In actuality, the term ‘typical’ refers to what might be deemed ‘normal’ antler growth. That is, the buck will sport a single left and right beam with individual tines projecting upwards from them in an evenly spaced manner. Drop-tines, forked tines and any other forms of antler growth considered to be abnormal is viewed as non-typical.
