Sheds have always fascinated the avid hunter as they’re sometimes the only evidence of “the one that got away”. Sometimes they’re the only evidence that a deer even exists. Well, no matter if the shed belongs to a deer that you’ve been hunting, or a deer that you never knew existed, the fact remains that shed antlers are the next best thing to shooting the buck yourself.
Sheds are measured the same way that a normal rack is except that no spread credit is given and no deductions for side-to-side differences are made. Sheds, though sometimes found as matched sets, are entered into the Big Game Records of Ontario as singles. Abnormal points are deducted off the gross score of a typical shed while they are added on to the gross score of a non-typical shed.
